Why Do You Need Dentures?
Acrylic Dentures
- Dentures placed in an acrylic resin mold that is smiliar to the color of the gums
- Advantages:
– Cheaper price
– Can be repaired if broken or teeth can be added if necessary
– These dentures have a thick base
– Easy to break if dropped
Iron-Soled Dentures (Cobalt Chrome)
- Made of Cobalt Chromium alloy. Dentures will be placed on the framework together with acrylic
- Advantages:
– Thinner & stronger than acrylic
– Lighter to wear
– More durable (Not easy to break if dropped)
– More expensive
– Has hooks that are sometimes visible when smiling
Flexible Dentures (Valplast)
- Denture base that is made of Nylon. This causes dentures to be flexible as compared to acrylic type
- Advantages:
– Lighter, stronger & durable
– Thinner & more flexible than other dentures
– More comfortable than acrylic
– Easy to blend with dental gums
– More durable (Not easy to break if dropped)
– More expensive than acrylic
– Can’t be added or repaired if dentures are loose
