What is a Crown?

A dental crown is a type of treatment that will cover the original tooth structure. Crown will be cemented on the surface of the tooth & works to replace the outermost layer of the tooth.

Dental Crown/ Bridge Procedure:

  1. Dental examination
  • The doctor will examine the tooth that needs a dental crown/ bridge
  • This may also involve taking dental X-rays to ensure the overall health status of the teeth
  • Mold of the original teeth is taken first

 

  1. Crown site preparation & mold taking
  • The doctor will prepare the crown site by removing part of the outer layer of the tooth (crown preparation) to place the crown
  • This procedure will be done with local anesthetic so that the patient feels comfortable & pain free
  • The doctor will take the tooth mold that has been cut together with the adjacent tooth
  • Preparation site of Crown & Dental Bridge will be temporarily covered

 

  1. Issue Crown
  • Temporary Dental Crown/ Bridge will be removed
  • Actual Zicornia/ PFM Crown or bridge that has been processed will be cemented permanently on the patient’s teeth
